About Us

Like many young boys, Stuart Cleaveland was always fascinated with building. But for him, this passion continued long after he outgrew Legos and building blocks. The love of creating and working with his hands led him to pursue a carpentry degree. After gaining further experience by working for others in the trades, Stuart started Black Bear Builders in 1999, and has held his MN Building License ever since, as well as adding certifications in both radon testing and mitigation.

At Black Bear Builders, we believe that true professionalism is born from the ability to work your craft with ease – always being a few steps ahead of the game, and knowing where to look for problems before they arise. By keeping a close eye on the project and maintaining a high level of dialogue with both the client and the remodeling team, we focus on both skillful craftmanship and customer satisfaction.
